TGS Careers Day Wednesday 4 March 2026 - Afternoon sessions and Evening sessions.
We are enormously grateful to our volunteer alumni, parents carers, and friends of the School for your time and expertise. The passion you have for your field of work undoubtedly inspires the post school pathways and futures of our young people, including considering jobs which don't exist yet.
We are starting to plan the day and evening sessions. We are thinking along the lines of a mix of presentations and opportunities for one to one's.
About the Careers Afternoon 2.30pm to 3.40pm
Last year was a huge success. We would like to repreat year 9, and also offer to a wider cohort of students across the school. A series of careers related presentations.
About the Careers Evening 5.30pm to 7.30pm (Years 10 and Sixth Form - 6.30pm to 7.30pm).
Situated in the open plan IBarn building, up to fifty volunteers from a wide variety of careers chat informally with students one to one. Students are encouraged to talk to as many people as time allows, sparking imaginations and options for their own informed post school decisions and plans. The focus is not just on the student's next steps but rather to think longer term, and how that longer term thinking may steer shorter term goals and plans.
We ask our volunteers to come along ready to chat about: Who you are; what you do; what field of work; how you got to where you are now; what sparked your interest in the career you chose; anything you would change; advice about recruitment and apprenticeship opportunities in your sector. What are your interest and passions and how these may have influenced your career (and vice versa).

We are looking for sponsors to help cover the essential costs of the Careers Programme.
Key events in the school calendar offer commercial and mutual benefits for school and for partner businesses. Sponsors are recognised on event materials. Events are significantly enhanced by these partnerships.
