Practice Interviews 2019

Our alumni make an invaluable contribution to the Practice Interviews for our Sixth Formers.

Thank you to our TGS Alumni who came back to school in July to help our Sixth Form Practice interviews.

We were also delighted to welcome back some TGS alumni who were able to share their very recent experiences of university with our students. Thank you to Aminah (medicine), Grace (medicine), Charlotte (medicine), Sarah (dentistry), Lucy (architecture), Katy (veterinary) and Gabbie (veterinary).

Over 100 Year 12 students took up the opportunity to have a practice interview with an external professional in the first week of July. Over two days 25 interviewers contributed to the process and showed exceptional generosity and care in questioning, advising and guiding the students to be able to better articulate their career goals.

The interviewers brought insight from a wide range of backgrounds and careers. We had representatives from the Metropolitan Police and Tucker’s Solicitors; Oxbridge graduates and those without a degree; those with experience working abroad and in the UK; a physiotherapist, an accountant, a newspaper journalist and many more.

“I found that you could easily tailor the practice interview to what you wanted to get out of it, which was extremely useful and helped me gage an insight into my future career.
— Niamh, Year 12

“The interviews really helped me gain an insight into what questions would be asked and I feel a lot more comfortable on how to approach a real interview. As we had a choice to have a formal or informal discussion, it gave me the opportunity to gain advice from the interviewers and ask questions on my personal statement.
— Kirthi, Year 12
