On 31 March each year we celebrate and mark Joy’s Legacy Programme, thanking and recognising those who name Tonbridge Grammar School in their will. Bequests to the School extend and enrich learning for all students across every aspect of school life, in line with school vision.
Miss Joy Debney taught History at our school throughout her working life from 1954 to 1991. In her retirement she visited often, and we very fondly remember her at many reunions and school events. Joy died in 2017 leaving her estate to the school. Reflecting her wishes and in line with a long held ambition to provide more support to widen access to a TGS education, the School has an endowment which extends the programmes in place to support disadvantaged members of the school community.
This time last year we celebrated Joy’s Legacy Programme with alumni and students, dressing up in old school uniform. Such fun!
This year, I am sure Joy would have approved of marking the day at our PTA hosted Easter Celebration.
