Dear TGS Connections Community
At the end of last term, Tonbridge Grammar School was inspected by Ofsted. It was a new-format ungraded inspection and I am pleased to share with you the outcome: Tonbridge Grammar School was judged to have maintained the standards identified in their 2019 inspection; 'outstanding for overall effectiveness'.
TGS is a unique place to learn and grow where all students have a voice and are supported to success, and I am pleased that the report recognised this. I'm incredibly proud that the engagement, purpose, intent, success and positive attitude to learning we see students demonstrate daily, was commended.
I would like to thank the dedicated teaching team whose skilled practice and commitment to professional development was recognised; particularly how proficiently they support students to develop critical thinking skills and equip them to have the confidence to apply their knowledge in a variety of situations and the experienced team of staff that support them, ensuring the school runs efficiently and effectively.
Wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do and the strength of our Wellbeing Team and how they not only support students in school but also help them to 'develop a toolkit of strategies to help support them beyond the classroom' was noted.
Preparing students for their post TGS journeys is a key focus, and the report notes that 'pupils are exceptionally well prepared for their next steps' via a wide range of careers and co-curricular activities and highlights the wide variety of leadership opportunities available. The role of our vibrant Library and the initiatives run by the School Librarian to celebrate reading was also commended.
The input of wider community is highly valued by all, and I thank our alumni community whose engaged and supportive role in helping support students to make career choices and move onto their next steps was commented upon.
