Message from Rosemary Joyce Head Teacher on 6 May 2020
"In the midst of a global crisis it is perhaps understandable that our collective and individual focus is on the current and future challenges facing our families, our nation and communities across the the world. The coronavirus pandemic will, I suspect, be one of the key moments in the history of the 21st century. Given this, it is perhaps even more important that we take the time as families to raise our thoughts beyond our present challenges to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of VE Day, the pivotal moment confirming the end of the 2nd World War in Europe. World War 2 is undoubtedly one of the definng moments of the 20th century. The impact of the conflict and its outcomes have shaped so much of the structures and the thinking of modern liberal democracies. The War and its resolution have had a profound impact on the lives of millions world wild and as such the moment is worthy of our recognition and reflection.
I wish you all a thought filled, happy and relaxing bank holiday weekend.
