Meet our Politics Graduate TGS Class of 2022

Meet our Masters in Science student, Security Studies, Bobbi Class of 2022

What did you study at TGS Sixth Form?

I studied Philosophy and Psychology at TGS during sixth form and the combined interests in socialpsychology and social philosophical issues. In addition with having taken part in Debate club and Lawand Politics society set up by a peer student - Zaara - during my sixth form.

What did your TGS education give you?

I gained a really strong network of highly academic peers, each of whom bounced off the drivenecessary to complete sixth form exams to a high level despite all studying a diverse array of subjects. Inaddition, experiencing the dedication of sixth form teachers in time and attention to each individualstudent when it came to any questions or concerns - particularly in the lead up to final exams, exceptional exams team support and SENCO - myself having had extra time.

Why Politics at TGS for students choosing now?

I think the political sphere only continues to diversify, and the skills and backgrounds honed by TGSstudents is so suited to this type of discipline. The intellectual development across many types of studyin a Politics and IR degree is manifold - having studied modules ranging from Human Rights,Contemporary Politics of Labour, Post-Apartheid South Africa, to Understanding Genocide.

This very wide but thorough attention to detail inspired me to focus on a more IR and conflict-centered study in my Masters in Science at UCL, in Security Studies.

This field sets young people up for super interesting careers in NGOs, government and civil service, intelligence, risk analysis, human rights, etc. the list goes on.
