Meet our training Geography teacher Miillie class of 2018
Millie Brooks, was at TGS from September 2011 - May 2018. I left in Year 13.
I absolutely loved my Sixth Form higher level subjects at TGS. English, Geography and Philosophy help us to gain a greater understanding of the world and people around us, and challenge our misconception and preconceptions about key ideas. They are excellent at expanding our world view and allowing us to become more inclusive, tolerant, and inquisitive.
TGS shaped my path by encouraging a love for learning. Everyone at TGS was supportive, inspirational, and forever interested in our passions. I continue to use the work ethic, independence, and kindness that TGS afforded me on a daily basis.
At the moment, I am a Trainee Geography Teacher in Kent, working with students across KS3 and KS4. I even did my second placement at TGS, which was absolutely fantastic!
My working week is jam-packed - I am in school training from Monday to Thursday and complete online training on a Friday. There's lots of additional learning and preparation to do throughout the week but it is 100% worth it.
Prior to my teacher training, I worked as a SEN Teaching Assistant, Education Recruitment Consultant, Film Specialist and Camp Counsellor. I also got a First Class in my BA (Hons) English and Film degree at the University of Birmingham.
My proudest achievement so far has been obtaining a Distinction in my MA Film and Television qualification. Another has been the progress that I am currently making with my teacher training.
