Our keyworker student group in school had a very happy time this week signing a card for our most senior alumna Rita, who celebrates her 106th birthday on Wednesday 24th June.
This photograph does not really do justice to the wonderful elephant sketch that a TGS student has drawn for Rita. The other students who watched her work were enthralled by the speed and technique used to produce this lifelike image.
Rita left school in 1931 and has lived in Gorleston near Great Yarmouth for many years. I visited her this time last year, with her only close family Ann and Don - who this year are not able to make the journey. They have been in lockdown for 99 days so far.
Rita is in good health whilst more than a little hard of hearing. And she refuses to use a hearing aid!
I am sure we shall be able to visit her again in her home by the sea once covid has passed and our regular outings can happen once again.
