Remembering Grannie Joan

When Alice Lee was a student at TGS her Grannie Joan was a much loved and frequent visitor to School!  Always with a smile on her face and a fun story to share, Joan was the most perfect Grannie and Alice a proud and excellent host!

Both of Joan's daugthers were TGS girls.  Alice's mother Claire tragically died when Alice was very young. A couple of days ago I received this sad and unexpected email from daughter Laura.

"I’m writing with some sad news regarding my Mum, Joan Pennell.

Sadly, she passed away from pneumonia on 6th February. She had become very frail over the last few months, but was still doing her shopping online to raise funds for the school. She was very proud that both myself, my sister Claire, as well as her daughter Alice Lee who went to TGS and wanted to support the school as much as she could.

The funeral is at St Bartholomew's Church in Otford on Monday March 25th at 12pm. There will be some light refreshments afterwards at the church and you would be very welcome to join us.  Please email me to let me know you can come.

With very best wishes,
Laura Bartlett (nee Pennell)
